I know I’m turning this blog into my personal ranting board but I just cant help it.......
Is not our art, dance, temples, palaces, our architecture our true culture? Why then all this moral policing? Why then all this shit about how girls wearing halters and dancing in discos are spoiling our Indian culture??? Isn’t culture then, as they see it, simply the rule of the majority? The beliefs of the mainstream? Do people surely believe that by beating up women in nightclubs, they can restore the greatness of our culture? And this from the country which boasts of its plurality and its so called unity in diversity. Instead of preserving our art forms, our heritage buildings, we go about defying anyone to be the least bit different from us. And then we officiously call it ‘preserving the culture’. And if we can go about beating women for ‘besmirching the rich culture of our country’, we are just this close to setting up execution stages in our stadiums and stoning people to death for not believing what we believe.

yayy..! someone agrees with me on my one-before-last paragraph of my "an opinion on opinions" blog!
what more would i want than for indian girls to start wearing halters and hitting the discos??
omg ani.........my thoughts exactly. i dunno how i missed that particular blog entry of urs b4....:(
i think its all something 2 do wid de crowd mentality. i read something b4 that although all of us say v r bored wid life n v need change, v r secretly scared of change. v resist change almost on a subconscious level even when v know that it s 4 de better. v always feel safe sticking wid de tried n tested.
wat if de majority of our ancestors had been gay? then wud any straight person now b stigmatized 4 'ruining our culture'??? this s so stupid. if v follow their ideal, v'll never evolve....
n btw u lecher.... ivalo feel panni yezhuthirken n all u can think of s girls in halters:)
lol divs, i dunno, girls in halters is always more thought provoking for me, than the cleverest of blogs! :P
And haha, good example with the 'Gay ancestry' thing.. but technically, IF a majority of our ancestors were gay.. the human race would be extinct by now. (Its kinda difficult to reproduce when ur gay. [lol, nevermind, im just showing off my megabrains.. ])
But srsly, Mankind is sooo spoilt by being social.. we need to be made to fight for our lives everyday, alone in the wild, only then will the pampered brain start thinking of change, instead of comfortably resting on the thoughts and assumptions of our ancestors.. (also, if uv read the little excerpt iv taken from "The lost World" in the beginning of the 'Michael Crichton' Blog.. it says the same thing.. crowd mentality, fear of change, etc.)
But im glad theres other people out there who share my thoughts!
ya ya whatever...u n ur super brains! but yeah i loved that lil excerpt. very thought-provoking. v r the onli 1s who fight 4 our ideas. now s that something 2 b proud of or ashamed of i cant make up my mind
